Activities - Study/Research abroad in form of a ‘sandwich’ programme for Indian Ph.D. students

Five excellent Ph.D. students from the participating Indian partner institutions will be chosen to participate in a sandwich programme, either at the University of Hamburg, Germany, or at the University of Ghent, Belgium. Three candidates come from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in Mumbai; one candidate will each be sent by the National Law School of India University, Bangalore and the University of Hyderabad.

These students will spend a period of 20 months at one of the European institutions, conducting research and working on their Ph.D. theses, with the guidance of an European supervisor from the field of Law and Economics. This sandwich programme is made possible through the grant of a scholarship, amounting to €1,000 per month for the entirety of the duration of the stay, to each student. In addition, the candidates are actively encouraged to present their work at scientific conferences, and accordingly receive an allowance to cover accruing costs, during their stay in Europe.
