About Asia Link - Purpose

In the U.S., Law and Economics is an accepted and well-respected school of thought, and its scholars have taken up prestigious positions within the legal system, such as Richard A. Posner, a renowned Law and Economics scholar as well as Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

In recent times several European countries, too, have come to appreciate the benefits Law and Economics can bring to legal and economic policy. Thus, the movement is spreading rapidly, and its sphere of influence is continually broadening, in terms of application and recognition. Several European universities now offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses for those interested in the subject. It therefore appears prudent for other countries, such as India, to follow suit and also include the study of Law and Economics into national curricula.
